The charges for designing and HTML coding a web site varies,
depending on the amount of work necessary.
On the
average, the 'Home Page' -- the first page people reach when
visiting your website -- will cost about US$30. This covers
all layout, design and HTML coding, including any necessary
photo and logo scanning.
Each
additional page will run about US$15 to US$35, again depending
on the estimated amount of work needed to complete the page.
If you
already know what you want on your pages, and you can type it
up and save it as a text file, your cost will be at the lower
end of the range. If you require our help in wording and
typing up the text for your pages, then your cost would be on
the higher end of the range.
Typical
standard web pages in a website can include up to 5 pictures
or graphics and as much text as needed.
Design charges include layout of text and graphics as well as
scanning and photo-editing of pictures and artwork.
Special consideration is also given to making the website
optimized for the Search Engines. This will ensure that your
pages are displayed high on the list of search results.
Costs
Websites have both fixed costs (initial development of the
site) and ongoing costs (domain name, hosting, updates,
management etc). Some notes on these will be helpful for your
understanding of the work involved:
Fixed
costs - Web design and development
Every website is different. Some consist of just a few basic
pages of text with pictures while others have large databases
of information. Some websites have e-commerce facilities to
allow users to purchase goods using a credit or debit card.
The more facilities, effects, custom images etc. required on
the site, the more it will cost.
We
design each website according to the information we receive
about your company from you. This can be done through
conversations or by looking at your brochures or any written
material issued by your company.
Communication is one of the best ways to find just the right
design for your needs, so we talk to you before starting the
design process.
In order for us to build your website, you need to supply us
with all the information you can. Lack of information and
content is the primary reason for delays in the construction
of websites. If we have to write or telephone clients
repeatedly, this increases the costs. Clients can minimize
costs by providing all the requested information promptly.
E-commerce - The ability to accept credit card transactions
from your website can generate additional income for your
business. If your website does not have the ability to accept
credit card transactions then you could be losing out to your

Ongoing
costs
Domain name registration - i.e. www.yourcompany.com or

name. We charge you US$15 / year for .com registration and
US$28 / year for .com.my registration.
Web Hosting - The most basic and lowest end hosting packages
start from US$55 / year.
Website updates, maintenance, management, training, promotion
- these are not compulsory when we design your site but they can be
useful if you do not have the expertise. We will be happy to discuss these matters with you.

Item 2:
To achieve professionalism in your
business, you need to register a domain name of either "www.yourcompany.com"
or "www.yourcompany.com.my". For
registration with .com, the charges is US$15 / year,
while for .com.my, it is US$28 / year.
Item 3: The website will then need to be
hosted with a reliable host. The least expensive option is US$55 / year.
Please note that only item 1 is charged by us for our
website design service.
Items 2 and 3 will be paid to
the registrar and hosting company every year. As part of
the package, we will assist you with the registration and the hosting.
In short, if you type ready all the write ups, you
should be able to get your 5-pages website running for
the very first time, with US$160 as
the minimum charges. If we have to do most of the write ups,
and you want to register with a .com.my domain name,
then the total costs can reach US$253.
Design, domain name registration and hosting - from
US$160 to US$253.
If you want your website to be able to accept credit
cards for e-commerce enabled, there will be an
additional cost of US$120, one time payment. That makes
the package total cost to be from US$280 to US$373 when running for the first time.
For the subsequent years, the cost is just for renewal
of registration and hosting only. You only have to pay
US$70.
